Saturday PrEP Clinic

Our office will now be open on Saturdays for a weekly PrEP clinic. If you are on PrEP or wanting to start on PrEP, we will be open for 15-30 minute appointments that will include your lab work.

A few facts about PrEP:

  • PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) is a prevention approach for HIV-negative individuals to use anti-HIV medications (anti-retrovirals) to reduce their risk of becoming infected if they are exposed to the virus.
  • The FDA approved Truvada (emtricitabine/tenofovir) made by Gilead Sciences, Inc. for preventative use on July 16, 2012. The tablet needs to be taken once a day, every day (along with consistent condom use) to provide effective prevention.
  • The purpose of the 3-month follow-ups and labs is to monitor bone and kidney health (as Truvada can potentially cause bone density loss and kidney disease), and to routinely check for STIs (sexually transmitted infections).

You can call the office at 214-520-8833 and dial option 3 to schedule appointments. Walk-ins are also welcome, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to get you with a provider right away, so there may be a wait. If there is no availability left, we can schedule you for an opening in the following weeks.

Visits and labs will be billed to your insurance. We accept most major plans with Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Cigna, as well as several other smaller plans. If you do not have insurance, or are on a high-deductible plan, cash pricing will be available. To inquire more about coverage and pricing, please call the office at 214-520-8833 and dial option 4 to speak with our insurance and billing officer.

The Saturday clinic will be for PrEP patients ONLY. Any patients with acute issues will need to be seen during regular office hours during the week.

For any other questions, please call the office at 214-520-8833 and dial extension 202 to speak with Rick.
